As a technologically connected youth of my generation, I have pretty much grown up with, and on, the modern Internet.  In addition, I have been writing since the 6th grade.  As a generally shy person, writing has always given me an outlet.  Granted, that outlet was always quite private.  I think branching out could help me blossom into a better writer and a more confident person.  I have little experience with blogs but I appreciate their very colloquial style.  While you are writing purposefully about a certain subject, it is almost like a conversation between two people.  You and your reader.  I believe that style is best for connecting and opening up with readers and I hope to use it to foster an environment people will want to revisit.

You may be asking yourself why I'm writing this blog, what it's about.  Well, to put it simply...I have a passion for horror.  It's an odd, strange passion, and a tad bit ironic considering my nearly complete undergraduate degree in Criminology.  But, as my minor in Psychology will tell you, there is a part of me that enjoys trying to understand the human mind.  I foster this side of myself not only as a student of the Gothic, but on a personal level in my free time.  Ask anyone who knows me, they'll tell you they often find themselves trying to find excuses to get out of watching yet another scary movie with me.  I love watching/reading/enjoying the horror genre, and I love it even more when I can make connections between works.  It is fascinating to me to see how themes and elements from the past have survived and adapted over the years and how they’re manifested in modern day works.  Most importantly, I believe that in having such a passion for the subject I’m writing about, I will be able to incite that same passion in others.
